Throughout your hands-on course you will gain an introduction to:

  • Recording. In this course you will learn all the skills and concepts to record and produce bands in a variety of genres. Learning signal flow on a large format analog console and the microphone techniques used in commercial recordings you will be recording several productions as part of your course.
  • Post Production. Post Production or Sound for screen is a exciting area of our Industry that includes sound design, location recording and foley work. We will show you how the film industry works with Audio and how amazing ‘monster’ sounds are created!
  • MIDI. Ableton basics and midi programming with virtual instruments, synthesis and sound design will help you incorporate interesting sonic flavour into any type of production.
  • Mixing. Mixing will also form a integral part of your learning experience and we will illustrate both in the box and mixing on a analog console.

This highly practical course exposes students to the many aspects of electronic music production. During the course students will establish a skillset to help “future proof” their music production journey by covering subjects on:

  • Producing with music software
  • Beat building techniques
  • Synthesizers, samplers and drum machines
  • Music theory fundamentals for the electronic musician Incorporating music technology into live performance
  • Developing workflows to complete projects
  • Techniques for building an online presence

YOU WILL LEARN

Throughout your hands-on course you will gain an introduction to:

  • Music Production. Music production is the main focus of this course and you will be producing a minimum of 3 tracks during the course. All different genres and production techniques will be covered to ensure you can make the sound you have always wanted to achieve.
  • Performance. Music performance is a integral part of the modern producers creative cycle, and we will show you how to get your tracks performance ready as well as how to incorporate hardware and controllers to help you put your personal touch on your performance.
  • Mixing. We will show you industry relevant tools and plug ins to help create the polished songs you hear from your idols.
  • Remixing. Another staple of electronic music production, allowing you to put your personal spin on someone else’s track! A great way to collaborate and spread your name in the Industry.

THE COURSE

Through hands-on training, we’ll help you amplify your talents, refine your skills and be industry ready in a matter of months. In the Diploma of Music Production you will be guided by master lecturers who will train you in music production and sound design techniques, while also giving you great insight into the music industry.

As part of your course you’ll work collaboratively with a local music group of your choosing, to produce a recording of either a rehearsal or live performance. You’ll have the skills to prepare a production brief and be able to apply your music production skills to meet the clients brief.
