LEARN AUDIO WITH

GUY GRAY

Guy has over 30 years of audio engineering experience, including engineering scores, large orchestral recordings, surround mixing as well as music production for successful film projects in Australia and Southeast Asia.

Throughout his career, Guy has worked for studios in Asia and North America, including the Hit Factory in New York City. He has received multiple ARIA award nominations, and has received the highly coveted Golden Horse and Golden Melody awards in Asia for his album and film soundtrack work.

Beginning his career at Studios 301 in Sydney in 1981, Guy went on to become a Senior In-House Recording and Mix Engineer for artists including The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Joan Jett, Midnight Oil, Patti Smith, Slim Dusty, Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper and Paul Kelly. His engineering credits can be found on such multi-platinum selling records as Midnight Oil’s ‘Diesel & Dust’ and David Bowie’s ‘Tin Machine II’. Guy’s film soundtrack work includes ‘Young Einstein’ (1998), ‘Return to Nim’s Island’ (2013), ‘Dance of the Dragon’ (2008), and ‘Seediq Bale: Warrior of the Rainbow’ (2011).

He has also work on sound design for ad campaigns with major brands including Coca Cola, Chevrolet and Garuda Airlines.

LEARN FILM WITH

MAIRI CAMERON

I discovered a passion for filmmaking during my undergraduate studies at Queensland University of Technology where I directed and crewed on a range of award winning shorts and documentaries. Realising my focus was directing, I applied successfully for the directing program at Australian Film Television and Radio School. My graduation film, Milk was selected for official competition at Cannes and pre-selected for an Academy Award.

I graduated into the industry as a freelance director and over the past decade have directed television commercials, series television, short films, and music videos.

Won the Triple J Music Video of the Year in 2011 for a clip I directed for Australian artist, Washington.

More recently my focus has expanded to include teaching. I am still passionate about bringing challenging and inspiring stories to the screen by continually expanding my own slate of productions, but also by supporting the emerging generation of filmmakers.

With the rise of gamification in evolving industries–healthcare, digital marketing and more–game creators are becoming indispensable in our changing world.

DR CHRISTY DENA

A writer-designer- director who has worked on award-winning pervasive games, film, digital and theatre projects. Clients include Nokia, Cisco/No Mimes Media, ABC, Wieden+Kennedy, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Noah Falstein, Ken Eklund & Agency of Coney, and more.

Christy was been granted Australia’s first Digital Writing Residency at The Cube for her project 3D Kinect installation “Robot University” by the Australia Council for the Arts and QUT.

In 2012, she was the “Digital Writing Ambassador” for the Emerging Writers Festival; and a prototype of her web audio adventure for the iPad “AUTHENTIC IN ALL CAPS” was Finalist for “Best Writing in a Game” Award at the Freeplay Independent Gaming Festival.

Christy co-wrote “The Writers Guide to Making a Digital Living” for the Australian Literature Board. She is co-founder with Lance Weiler of a residential lab for storytellers working in tech: Forward Slash Story. She has given keynotes and presentations at film, tech, writing, and gaming festivals worldwide. She has mentored industry professionals around the world; has written numerous articles on writing and design; been published in numerous books; and wrote the first PhD on Transmedia Practice.
